A New Rhythm for a Creative Workplace

Just a stone's throw from Whitepaper's own studio in Norton Folgate, Concord's new London headquarters at Loom Studios presented an exciting opportunity to create a workplace rooted in creativity, character and connection. Working closely with designer Jess Wildigg, Whitepaper delivered a bespoke CAT B fit out that brings together the building's distinctive architectural features with the personality of one of the world's leading independent music companies.

As an international business establishing its home within one of London's most characterful creative neighbourhoods, it was important that Concord's workspace felt authentically connected to its surroundings. The design celebrates the industrial heritage of Norton Folgate through a carefully curated palette of raw and reclaimed materials, introducing warmth, texture and a sense of permanence. A defining feature is the reclaimed brick wall, incorporating two sculptural curves that soften the architecture and create a striking focal point within the space.

The design journey is brought to life through a considered lighting strategy, with bold feature lighting drawing people along the central spine of the workplace and establishing a natural sense of movement and discovery. Rather than adopting a uniform approach, each space was given its own identity through distinctive finishes, furniture and detailing, while a consistent material language creates a cohesive thread throughout the floorplate. The result is a series of individual environments that feel connected yet full of personality.

As a business built around music, acoustics were fundamental to the success of the scheme. With dedicated listening rooms and a variety of working and collaborative settings throughout the office, careful acoustic consideration was essential. Acoustic panelling was integrated in different forms across the floorplate, balancing technical performance with architectural expression and ensuring that sound quality, comfort and functionality were considered alongside the overall aesthetic.

Throughout the project, the ambition was to create a workplace that feels unmistakably Concord while respecting the character of Loom Studios. The interplay of exposed architectural elements, authentic materials, expressive lighting and carefully considered details brings a sense of energy and individuality to the space, creating an environment that is both creatively inspiring and highly functional.

More than a new headquarters, Concord's Norton Folgate studio has been designed as a long term home for its people. A place to collaborate, listen, create and connect, the completed scheme celebrates the company's creative spirit while establishing a lasting relationship with its London surroundings. For Whitepaper, delivering such a characterful project right next door to our own studio makes this collaboration particularly special.
