Whitepaper reimagined the workspace at 2 Tabernacle Street, transforming four floors in the heart of Shoreditch into a contemporary workplace designed to appeal to modern occupiers.

Positioned within one of London’s most vibrant creative districts, the building is something of a hidden gem, quietly tucked within the urban fabric while offering characterful space that reflects the energy and creativity of its surroundings.

The design approach celebrates the architectural elements of the existing base build, allowing the character of the building to inform the workspace experience. Original structural features, generous ceiling heights, and large windows have been retained and highlighted to maximise natural light and spatial openness across all four floors. These elements provide a strong architectural framework that gives the workspace an authentic Shoreditch identity.

Across the floors, the layouts create a balance between focused working areas and more informal spaces for collaboration and interaction. Breakout areas and flexible settings encourage movement and connectivity throughout the workplace, supporting a variety of working styles while maintaining a professional and cohesive environment.

Material selections and detailing respond to the building’s existing character, layering contemporary finishes with subtle industrial references that reflect the surrounding Shoreditch context. The result is a workspace that feels both refined and grounded in its setting.

By combining thoughtful spatial planning with the retention of key architectural features, the project positions 2 Tabernacle Street as a distinctive workplace within the Shoreditch market — a four-floor hidden gem that offers character, flexibility, and a design-led environment for modern occupiers.
